The Kaduna State Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) Project has hosted a Federal Project Management Unit (FPMU) delegation for a two-day quarterly inspection of the Community Revolving Fund (CRF) to assess implementation, fund utilisation and sustainability.

The mission, led by FPMU Natural Resources Management Specialist and CRF Team Lead, Mr Musa Garba, engaged Community Revolving Fund Management Committee (CRFMC) chairmen and Community Interest Groups (CIGs) to review loan utilisation, repayments and implementation challenges.

Mr Garba emphasised that the CRF provides interest-free loans, not grants, noting that timely repayment would enable other community groups to benefit. He explained that the inspection aimed to monitor progress, identify challenges and provide technical support.

The Kaduna ACReSAL Project Coordinator, Hadiza I. Halid, Esq., reaffirmed the State Project Implementation Unit’s commitment to transparency, accountability and sustainability. She urged beneficiaries to honour repayment agreements and utilise the funds effectively.

The Project Coordinator disclosed that 50 CIGs had benefited from the intervention across Kudan and Kubau Local Government Areas. Five CRFMCs support 25 CIGs in each area.

Earlier, Kaduna ACReSAL CRF Team Lead, Kassim Idris Abdurrauf, presented an implementation report. The mission also featured document verification, beneficiary engagements and field visits.

The CRF intervention empowers women and youth through interest-free loans to support climate-smart agriculture, small businesses and livelihood diversification. It promotes income generation, poverty reduction and household resilience against climate-related and economic shocks.

The revolving mechanism ensures that recovered funds can support additional community groups, extending the intervention’s reach beyond the project’s lifespan.

The quarterly inspection strengthens accountability, improves loan recovery and promotes sustainable community development across Kaduna State.
