About Us – Kaduna ACReSAL
Kaduna ACReSAL (Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes) is a six-year World Bank-assisted project aimed at restoring degraded landscapes, improving agricultural productivity, and strengthening climate resilience in Northern Nigeria. The project is a collaborative initiative between the Kaduna State Government, the World Bank, and federal ministries, addressing environmental challenges and promoting sustainable land management.
To address environmental challenges arising from climate change and poor land-use practices in Northern Nigeria.
To establish strong practices and policies that promote ecological restoration and build climate-resilient communities.
Kaduna ACReSAL is dedicated to tackling land degradation, enhancing water resources, and improving agricultural sustainability in line with the World Bank’s Next Generation Africa Climate Business Plan (NGACBP) strategic directions, which include:

Project Background
Kaduna ACReSAL evolved from the Nigeria Erosion and Watershed Management Project (NEWMAP), which ended in June 2022. Following its transition, Kaduna ACReSAL commenced operations in July 2022, with a focus on integrated landscape management, climate adaptation, and environmental restoration across 19 Northern states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

- Watershed & Land Restoration – Implementing micro-watershed and catchment management strategies to improve soil conservation and water retention.
- Sustainable Agriculture – Training farmers in climate-smart farming techniques, irrigation efficiency, and soil management.
- Climate Resilience & Adaptation – Strengthening community capacity to mitigate the impacts of climate change.
- Community Engagement & Capacity Building – Establishing Local Project Management Committees to drive sustainable development.
- Monitoring & Evaluation – Utilizing data-driven approaches to assess project success and inform policy decisions.

Integration with Key Institutions
Kaduna ACReSAL collaborates with the Kaduna State Bureau of Statistics (KDBS), Education Management Information System (EMIS), and other agencies to streamline data collection, analysis, and policy implementation. The project also supports API-based data exchange, enabling seamless integration with national and international research and development initiatives.
