Kaduna ACReSAL Coordinator Leads Stakeholders Meeting on Watershed Management in Lokoja

Hadiza I. Halid Esq, the Project Coordinator of the Kaduna State Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL), led the state’s project team and stakeholders to a key engagement on developing Strategic Catchment Management Plans. The event, currently taking place in Lokoja, Kogi State, brings together representatives from participating states, technical experts, consultants, and academics.

The forum focuses on catchment areas including Sarkin-Pawa–Kaduna, Okwa–Mada, Lokoja–Niger, and Aloma–Ebonyi. It aims to foster collaboration and share expertise for the effective planning and sustainable management of watersheds.

This engagement aligns with Component A1 of the ACReSAL project, which emphasizes strategic watershed management to enhance climate resilience and environmental sustainability in semi-arid regions.

Participants are expected to contribute to the formulation of action plans that support long-term ecological balance and improved livelihoods for communities dependent on these water resources.
