Kaduna ACReSAL Showcases Climate Resilience Achievements at World Bank Stakeholders’ Engagement

The Kaduna State Project Management Unit of the Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) participated in a high-level Stakeholders Engagement and Marketplace event organized by the World Bank and the Federal Project Management Unit (FPMU).

Led by Project Coordinator Hadiza I. Halid, Esq., the Kaduna ACReSAL team showcased key achievements since the project’s inception. These include land restoration, greenhouse construction, institutional capacity building, women empowerment programs, establishment of Community Revolving Funds, and the development of nurseries for climate adaptation. The team also highlighted flood mitigation efforts such as dredging the River Kaduna and support for farmers to enhance food production and stimulate local economies.

The World Bank’s Practice Manager for Environment, West Africa, Maria Sarraf, commended the commitment of ACReSAL states, applauding their resilience and progress. She reaffirmed the Bank’s dedication to supporting sustainable land and water management initiatives across the region.

A comprehensive presentation was delivered, outlining significant milestones and progress achieved by participating states. The World Bank Task Team Leader, Joy Iganya Agene, emphasized the importance of such engagements for peer learning, resolving implementation challenges, and increasing project visibility at both national and international levels.

The event served as a strategic platform for collaboration, knowledge exchange, and celebration of impactful results. It brought together key stakeholders to reflect on lessons learned and strategize future actions aimed at environmental sustainability and climate resilience.

The ACReSAL initiative continues to play a vital role in promoting sustainable agriculture, restoring degraded ecosystems, and building climate-resilient communities across Nigeria.

With its guiding vision of “Greening the Environment, Saving Lives,” ACReSAL remains a cornerstone effort in Nigeria’s environmental and community development agenda.
