Kaduna ACReSAL Hosts First Technical Meeting to Develop Sustainable Landscape Management Policy

The Kaduna State Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscape Project (ACReSAL), in partnership with the Kaduna State Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, has held its first technical meeting aimed at developing a Sustainable Landscape Management Policy and Action Plan.

The meeting brought together key stakeholders from various sectors, including NESREA, NOSDRA, Kaduna Environmental Protection Authority (KEPA), the Office of the Head of Service, Office of the Secretary to the State Government, non-governmental and community-based organizations (NGOs and CBOs), as well as Academia. The goal was to identify strategic areas that will inform and shape a comprehensive policy for sustainable land use and environmental resilience in the state.

Kaduna State ACReSAL Project Coordinator, Hadiza I. Halid, Esq., presented an overview of the project’s progress and milestones since its inception. She emphasized the importance of stakeholder collaboration in addressing the environmental challenges faced by semi-arid regions.

Lead consultant Professor Mukhtar Namadina of Rightlinks Integrated Services Limited outlined the methodology and steps for drafting the policy, emphasizing inclusive participation and data-driven planning.

The initiative marks a significant step toward enhancing environmental sustainability and resilience in Kaduna State, aligning with national and global environmental goals.
